A tsunami warning was issued in Hawaii<\/u><\/a> on Tuesday following an 8.7 magnitude earthquake near the Russian coast, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Weather Service (NWS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, much of the U.S. and Canadian west coast faced a tsunami watch and advisory after the earthquake close to Russia\u2019s east coast, per NOAA and the NWS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Trump in a post on X<\/u><\/a> on Tuesday night cautioned those living in the potentially affected areas and advised people to visit tsunami.gov for the latest information, adding to \u201cSTAY STRONG AND STAY SAFE!\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency noted a tsunami warning in a post on the social platform X<\/u><\/a> late Tuesday and said that \u201cURGENT ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN TO PROTECT LIVES AND PROPERTY.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHOURLY UPDATES WILL BE POSTED. STAY SAFE,\u201d the agency added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its own post on X Tuesday<\/u><\/a>, the California Governor\u2019s Office of Emergency Services said that \u201c@NWS_NTWC has issued a Tsunami Watch for the California coast including SF Bay area following today\u2019s M8.7 earthquake off the coast of Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c@Cal_OES, along with its partners, is monitoring any potential impacts to the state. Sign up for local alerts and listen to authorities,\u201d the office added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just after 6:30 p.m. local time, Washington state\u2019s Emergency Management Division on X told those<\/u><\/a> \u201cOn the coast\u201d to \u201cstay OUT OF THE WATER & AWAY FROM THE SHORE, which includes HARBORS and MARINAS due to strong currents & dangerous waves.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Columbia Premier David Eby stated on X<\/u><\/a> that \u201ca tsunami watch has been issued for much of BC\u2019s coast\u201d and he was \u201cmonitoring the situation closely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
