LOS ANGELES \u2014 Hollywood actor Michael Madsen, whose film career spanned decades and included roles in \u201cReservoir Dogs,\u201d \u201cKill Bill\u201d and \u201cDonnie Brasco,\u201d died from heart failure, his cardiologist told NBC Los Angeles<\/a>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madsen was\u2002found unresponsive Thursday<\/a> at his Malibu home. He was 67.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His doctor said heart failure will be listed as the cause of death, with heart disease and alcoholism named as contributing factors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Deputies responded to the Los Angeles County home after a 911 call early Thursday. Madsen was pronounced dead at the residence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No autopsy will be conducted because the cardiologist who was treating Madsen signed the death certificate. The case is considered closed by the Los Angeles Sheriff\u2019s Department, with no foul play indicated, and is listed as a death from natural causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manager Ron Smith said last week that Madsen died from cardiac arrest.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gravelly-voiced Madsen was known for portraying enigmatic tough guy characters, and amassed a long list of film credits during his career spanning four decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madsen, the brother of Academy Award-nominated actor Virginia Madsen<\/a>, brought complex characters to life in \u201cKill Bill: Vol. 1,\u201d \u201cReservoir Dogs,\u201d \u201cThelma & Louise,\u201d \u201cDonnie Brasco\u201d and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madsen, who also published several volumes of poetry, was born in Chicago, where he was part of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. His Hollywood career was launched with an appearance in the 1983 sci-fi techno thriller \u201cWarGames.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madsen, playing the role of cruel criminal \u201cMr. Blonde,\u201d was part of Quentin Tarantino\u2019s directorial debut in 1992\u2019s \u201cReservoir Dogs.\u201d The two would collaborate frequently in Hollywood, including \u201cKill Bill: Vol. 1,\u201d \u201cThe Hateful Eight\u201d and \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Hollywood.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madsen\u2019s \u201cReservoir Dogs\u201d performance included a notoriously memorable scene in which Mr. Blonde, aka Victor \u201cVic\u201d Vega, tortured a man he was tasked with guarding as he danced to the song \u201cStuck in the Middle With You.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hudson Madsen, one of his six children, died by suicide at age 26 in 2022. He was one of three sons Madsen shared with his wife, DeAnna Madsen. He also had children from a previous marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
