The tax-and-spending bill passed by the House on Thursday&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/03\/trump-big-beautiful-bill-tax-changes.html\">slightly raises<\/a>&nbsp;the estate tax exemption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The president then envisioned what&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/1940932268710941089\">he called<\/a>&nbsp;a brighter future for Americans in which there would be no such tax and so \u201cno going to the banks and borrowing from, in some cases a fine banker, and in some cases shylocks and bad people\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In 2014, after then vice-president Joe Biden described those who take financial advantage of American service members as \u201cshylocks\u201d, he called the Anti-Defamation League\u2019s national director&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adl.org\/resources\/press-release\/adl-praises-vice-president-biden-turning-rhetorical-gaffe-teachable-moment\">to apologize<\/a>&nbsp;for his \u201ca poor choice of words\u201d by making reference to a stereotypical Jewish moneylender in Shakespeare\u2019s Merchant of Venice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/live\/2025\/jul\/03\/trump-big-bill-tax-spend-latest-voting\">theguardian<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During a speech to supporters at the Iowa Fair Grounds,&nbsp;Donald Trump&nbsp;just used an antisemitic slur to refer to bankers who exploit their clients.
