{"id":44333,"date":"2025-07-03T06:40:00","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T11:40:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=44333"},"modified":"2025-07-03T20:41:14","modified_gmt":"2025-07-04T01:41:14","slug":"200-marines-deployed-to-florida-to-help-ice-in-immigration-crackdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=44333","title":{"rendered":"200 Marines deployed to Florida to help ICE in immigration crackdown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Trump administration is sending some 200 Marines to Florida to aid Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in its deportation raids in the state, the U.S. military announced Thursday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Marines, which will come from Marine Wing Support Squadron 272 based in New River, N.C., will support ICE in its \u201cinterior immigration enforcement mission\u201d via \u201ccritical administrative and logistical capabilities at locations as directed\u201d by the agency, according to a statement from U.S. Northern Command (Northcom).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The release noted that the Marines are just the \u201cfirst wave\u201d of service members to help ICE in its deportation efforts, with other deployments expected in Louisiana and Texas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Northcom stressed that service members participating in this mission will perform \u201cstrictly non-law enforcement duties\u201d within ICE facilities, with roles focused on administrative and logistical tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThey are specifically prohibited from direct contact with individuals in ICE custody or involvement in any aspect of the custody chain,\u201d according to the statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Marines\u2019 mobilization was in response to a Department of Homeland Security request made to the Pentagon on May 9, with Defense Secretary&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/pete-hegseth\/\"><u>Pete Hegseth\u2002<\/u><\/a>approving a mobilization of up to 700 active, National Guard, and reserve component forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">President Trump in his second term has used the military significantly more in his immigration agenda compared with his first.
