{"id":43929,"date":"2025-06-24T19:51:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-25T00:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=43929"},"modified":"2025-06-24T22:29:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-25T03:29:25","slug":"suspect-in-bombing-at-california-fertility-clinic-dies-in-federal-custody","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=43929","title":{"rendered":"Suspect in bombing at California fertility clinic dies in federal custody"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">June 24 (Reuters) &#8211; A suspect in the bombing of a California fertility clinic in May has died in federal custody, the Federal Bureau of Prisons said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Daniel Park, 32, of Washington state, was found unresponsive Tuesday morning at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, the Bureau of Prisons said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Facility employees &#8220;initiated life-saving measures&#8221; on Park who was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The FBI and the U.S. Marshals Service were notified, the bureau said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">When asked about a cause and manner of death, the Bureau of Prisons provided a statement that did not specify if a cause or manner of death had been determined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Park was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/suspect-arrested-connection-with-deadly-california-fertility-clinic-bombing-2025-06-04\/\"><u>arrested in June<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;following the May 17 bombing at the clinic in Palm Springs, approximately 100 miles east of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The bombing killed one person, the primary suspect, Guy Bartkus, and injured several others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Officials alleged that Park had secured 270 pounds of ammonium nitrate for Bartkus and that he had shared Bartkus&#8217; views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Park was not in California at the time of the bombing and was detained in Poland by Polish authorities after the bombing.
