{"id":43112,"date":"2025-06-04T17:03:00","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T22:03:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=43112"},"modified":"2025-06-04T22:06:21","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T03:06:21","slug":"canadian-wildfire-smoke-reaches-northeast-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=43112","title":{"rendered":"Canadian wildfire smoke reaches northeast US"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Canadian wildfire smoke is reaching the northeastern part of the United States, with multiple National Weather Service (NWS) offices saying&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NWSGray\/videos\/940911251481273\"><u>they are experiencing issues<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;with the smoke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">One NWS office in New York City in a post on social platform X showed photos of a hazy sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe haze is from smoke high up in the atmosphere from Canadian Wildfires,\u201d the New York City office added in its post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Associated Press reported that thousands of Canadians have fled their&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/canada-wildfires-air-pollution-midwest-5bc75883add745d8f639c8566c17d745\"><u>homes due to recent fires<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A map on a Canadian government website&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/weather.gc.ca\/firework\/firework_anim_e.html?type=pa&amp;utc=12\"><u>showed widespread swaths<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of harmful air pollutants&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/3887922-99-percent-of-global-population-exposed-to-unhealthy-levels-of-tiny-air-pollutants-study\/\"><u>known as particulate matter 2.5<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;across parts of North America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWind patterns are forecasted to transport plumes of smoke from these fires across much of New England and New Hampshire,\u201d the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services said in a press release Tuesday,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.des.nh.gov\/news-and-media\/nhdes-declares-air-quality-action-day-7\"><u>talking about Canadian wildfires<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIn addition to the health effects, these smoke plumes also diffract light causing a hazy appearance in the sky and reduced visibility of distant objects.
