{"id":42301,"date":"2025-05-14T18:28:00","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T23:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=42301"},"modified":"2025-05-14T22:30:31","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T03:30:31","slug":"musks-election-pac-sued-over-alleged-failure-to-pay-100-to-petition-signers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=42301","title":{"rendered":"Musk&#8217;s election PAC sued over alleged failure to pay $100 to petition signers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">WILMINGTON, Delaware, May 14 (Reuters) &#8211; Elon Musk&#8217;s political action committee failed to pay registered swing state voters as promised during last year&#8217;s U.S. election in return for signing a petition or referring other voters, according to a proposed federal class action lawsuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Musk&#8217;s America PAC helped Republican President&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/donald-trump\/\"><u>Donald Trump<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;beat Democratic challenger Vice President Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In the lead-up to the November election, Musk offered voters in seven states that were considered key to the election $47 and later $100 for signing a petition supporting the U.S. Constitution. Registered voters were also promised payments for referring voters in the seven states who signed the petition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The three plaintiffs, residents of Pennsylvania, Nevada and Georgia, claim that America PAC breached a contract by failing to pay in full. The lawsuit, filed on May 8 in Philadelphia, seeks to represent a class of everyone who signed or referred someone to sign the petition and was not paid in full.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/elon-musk\/\"><u>Musk<\/u><\/a>, the chief executive of Tesla&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/TSLA.O\"><u>(TSLA.O), opens new tab<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;and the world&#8217;s richest person, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His PAC also pledged to give away $1 million daily to someone who signed the petition in support of Constitutional guarantees to freedom of speech and the right to bear arms.
