The New York Times, Washington Post and others are \u201cthe enemy of the people,\u201d the US president has said<\/p>\n\n\n\n
US President Donald Trump has labeled American media \u201ccompromised and corrupt,\u201d accusing it of publishing \u201cfake\u201d polls that understate his approval ratings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump\u2019s rant followed the publication of surveys by the New York Times and ABC\/Washington Post respectively which suggested that support for the president was at record low as he approached the hundredth day of his second term in the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t have a Free and Fair \u201cPress\u201d in this Country anymore. We have a Press that writes BAD STORIES, and CHEATS, BIG, ON POLLS. IT IS COMPROMISED AND CORRUPT. SAD,\u201d he wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trump insisted that \u201cgreat Pollster John McLaughlin, one of the most highly respected in the industry, has just stated that The Failing New York Times Poll, and the ABC\/Washington Post Poll, about a person named DONALD J. TRUMP, ME, are FAKE POLLS FROM FAKE NEWS ORGANIZATIONS.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
McLaughlin, a veteran researcher and political consultant often branded \u201cTrump\u2019s pollster\u201d by the US media, later shared a screenshot of the US leader\u2019s post on his account on X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe New York Times has only 37% Trump 2024 voters, and the ABC\/Washington Post Poll has only 34% Trump Voters, unheard of numbers unless looking for a negative result, which they are,\u201d Trump insisted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said that the media organizations should be investigated for fraud, along with the Fox News pollster that suggested that 44% of Americans approved of the president\u2019s \u201coverall job performance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThey are Negative Criminals who apologize to their subscribers and readers after I WIN ELECTIONS BIG, much bigger than their polls showed I would win, loose a lot of credibility, and then go on cheating and lying for the next cycle, only worse,\u201d Trump stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The president also claimed that American media outlets \u201csuffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, and there is nothing that anyone, or anything, can do about it. THEY ARE SICK, almost only write negative stories about me no matter how well I am doing… AND ARE TRULY THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
