The Army suspended a female commander stationed in Wisconsin after portraits of President Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth\u2002<\/u><\/a>were found flipped around. The Army now says the suspension was not related to the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Army said in a statement<\/u><\/a> Saturday that Col. Sheyla Baez Ramirez, the base\u2019s first female commander, had been \u201csuspended\u201d as Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy, Wis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 14, the Department of Defense shared a post<\/u><\/a> on the social platform X showcasing a photo of the wall of the chain of command where Trump, Hegseth and Vice President Vance\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>photos were turned around to face a wall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRegarding the Ft. McCoy Chain of Command wall controversy\u2026.WE FIXED IT,\u201d the account wrote, adding that \u201can investigation has begun to figure out exactly what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, over the weekend, the defense secretary reposted an X post<\/u><\/a> that said, \u201cCommander of Fort McCoy, whose base chain-of-command board was missing photos of Trump, Vance and Hegseth, has been SUSPENDED.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Army Reserve spokesperson told The Hill on Wednesday that Baez Ramirez was suspended on April 18, Friday, for \u201cadministrative reasons,\u201d not for \u201cmisconduct.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation into the leader board \u201cincident\u201d is ongoing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTo reiterate, no one on the Fort McCoy leadership team, which includes Col. Baez-Ramirez, directed or supported the removal of any leader portraits,\u201d the spokesperson wrote in an emailed statement. \u201cThe Leader Board was corrected upon notification of the issue.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baez Ramirez assumed duties as Garrison Commander at Fort McCoy in July last year. Previously, she served as the chief of the Reserve Program, Army Intelligence and Security Command at Fort Belvoir, Va., according to her Army page<\/u><\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Baez Ramirez was commissioned as a military intelligence officer in 1999. She has a bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology\/mental health from the University of Puerto Rico and a master\u2019s in strategic studies from the Army War College.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
