In a press release, the department said it was canceling Biden-era Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities, which funded 141 projects that sought to advance climate-friendly farming practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Projects funded under the program<\/u><\/a> supported things like planting cover crops, which prevent soil erosion, and managing soil nutrients to minimize farming\u2019s environmental impacts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Biden administration estimated that the program would reach more than 60,000 farms and cut more than 60 million metric tons of carbon dioxide \u2013 the equivalent of taking 12 million gas-powered cars off the road for a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n However, the Trump administration said that most of the projects \u201chad sky-high administration fees which in many instances provided less than half of the federal funding directly to farmers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n It also said that \u201cselect projects\u201d could continue if they can show that a \u201csignificant\u201d amount of their funds will go to farmers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities initiative was largely built to advance the green new scam at the benefit of NGOs, not American farmers,\u201d said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins\u2002<\/u><\/a>in a written statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
