{"id":40661,"date":"2025-04-06T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-04-07T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40661"},"modified":"2025-04-07T02:05:37","modified_gmt":"2025-04-07T07:05:37","slug":"sanders-on-law-firms-making-deals-with-trump-absolute-cowardice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40661","title":{"rendered":"Sanders on law firms making deals with Trump: \u2018Absolute cowardice\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Sen.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/bernie-sanders\/\"><u>Bernie Sanders\u2002<\/u><\/a>slammed law firms coming to deals with President Trump in an interview that aired Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat do you make of the law firms cutting deals?\u201d CBS News\u2019s Robert Costa asked Sanders on \u201cCBS News Sunday Morning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAbsolute cowardice,\u201d Sanders responded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Sanders later added that the firms are \u201cgoing to sell out their souls to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\"><u>Donald Trump,<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in order to continue to be able to make money here in Washington.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Multiple law firms have recently&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5228599-trump-milbank-law-firm-deal\/\"><u>cut deals with the president<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;after pressure from the administration, which has threatened to cut security clearances and government contracts for multiple Big Law companies through a review process. It has also warned through an executive order of the sanctioning of attorneys for \u201cvexatious\u201d lawsuits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this week, President Trump announced that he had come to a deal with a the notable law firm Milbank LLP. The president said the firm had agreed to go through with a minimum of $100 million of pro bono legal services on shared initiatives throughout his administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMilbank will not deny representation to clients, such as members of politically disenfranchised groups and Government Officials, employees, and advisors, who have not historically received Legal representation from major National Law Firms,\u201d Trump said previously<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Former second gentleman&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/doug-emhoff\/\"><u>Doug Emhoff\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>law firm is also among those who have made similar deals with the Trump administration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/5235385-bernie-sanders-critiques-law-firms\/\">thehill<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sen.&nbsp;Bernie Sanders\u2002slammed law firms coming to deals with President Trump in an interview that aired Sunday. \u201cWhat do you make of the law firms cutting deals?\u201d CBS News\u2019s Robert Costa asked Sanders on \u201cCBS News Sunday Morning.\u201d \u201cAbsolute cowardice,\u201d Sanders responded.
