MOSCOW, April 3 (Sputnik) – U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating fell to 43 percent for the first time since he took office on January 20, according to data from a Reuters and global marketing company IPSOS survey.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a Reuters\/IPSOS poll conducted after Trump’s inauguration in January, Trump’s approval rating was 47%, the highest approval rating of his second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respondents also gave Trump a negative assessment of his job managing the U.S. economy and combating the high cost of living, with only 37% and 30% approving of his actions on those issues, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, 52% of respondents agreed that Trump’s<\/a> tariffs on foreign cars and their parts would hurt their loved ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the scandal in which Trump administration officials discussed U.S. military plans on Signal, 74% of respondents called the incident reckless, while only 22% called it harmless. Another 5% of respondents refused to make an assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey of 1,486 U.S. adults was conducted online from March 31 to April 2 and has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25% tariff on imported cars, light trucks and auto parts starting April 3, saying the move was necessary to protect national security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
