16-time WWE world champion<\/a>, who is now the face of the new Neutrogena campaign for Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70, said he was \u201cvery lucky\u201d to have a good dermatologist who helped him process his fear around the diagnosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\u201cMan, that phone call\u2019s not what you want to get because it is unpredictable and you don\u2019t know how bad it\u2019s going to be,\u201d Cena said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though the that first cancerous spot on Cena\u2019s chest was removed, there would be another in his future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cA year later, I went back and had another spot removed close to my right shoulder. It shows up like a white polka dot on the side of my chest and on my shoulder,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cIf you watch WWE, you\u2019ll be able to see them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Being diagnosed with skin cancer came as a shock to Cena, who said his \u201cmind always goes to the worst-case scenario.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But the diagnoses also showed him how important it was to protect his skin from the sun\u2019s rays. Cena said his attitude about sunscreen quickly went from \u201cneglect\u201d to \u201cmass protect.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now, Cena proudly practices self-care every day, which includes applying daily sunscreen that boasts a high SPF number.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m at a great space in my life where that\u2019s now important to me. And I\u2019m so grateful to be able to dodge those two bullets, but I wear them as a reminder of, \u2018Hey man, you need to take the extra few seconds to protect yourself every day,\u2019\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Applying sunscreen before going outside should become a regular daily habit, like brushing your teeth, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you\u2019re out there and you brush your teeth, at a young age you learned that going to the dentist when your teeth are in bad shape is bad because it\u2019s painful. The same thing will happen if you don\u2019t take care of your skin, and it\u2019s actually easier than brushing your teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBecause it\u2019s not something you should exercise to just make you look more beautiful,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s something you should exercise to allow you to be who you are for a longer period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
