{"id":40390,"date":"2025-03-31T01:07:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-31T06:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40390"},"modified":"2025-03-31T04:00:34","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T09:00:34","slug":"us-armored-vehicle-missing-in-lithuania-pulled-from-swamp-fate-of-crew-unknown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40390","title":{"rendered":"US armored vehicle missing in Lithuania pulled from swamp, fate of crew unknown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">VILNIUS, Lithuania &#8212;&nbsp;A U.S. armored vehicle that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/lithuania-pabrade-us-soldiers-military-training-c89957fc6a62da8624202095920630e1\">went missing in Lithuania<\/a>&nbsp;has been retrieved from a swamp after a six-day search but there is still no information about the fate of the four American soldiers who were on board, Lithuanian officials said Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The armored vehicle was pulled ashore at 4:40 a.m., the towing operation is complete, Lithuanian Military Police and US investigators continue their work,\u201d Defense Minister Dovil\u0117 \u0160akalien\u0117 said Monday morning in a post on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The soldiers were on a training exercise at the massive General Silvestras \u017dukauskas training ground in the town of Pabrad\u0117 when they and their vehicle were reported missing in the early hours of Tuesday morning, the U.S. army said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUntil the investigators have more details, we need to stay calm and focused, and keep in mind the sensitivity of the situation and the concerns of the soldiers\u2019 families,\u201d \u0160akalien\u0117 posted on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">She made clear to reporters that the first information about fate of the soldiers will be delivered by the U.S. army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The soldiers, all from 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, were conducting tactical training when they went missing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Hundreds of Lithuanian and U.S. soldiers and rescuers&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/missing-us-soldiers-swamp-lithuania-drain-f82b38c4598044f2b7f3800ad17013f7\">took part in the search<\/a>&nbsp;through the thick forests and swampy terrain around Pabrad\u0117, which lies just 10 kilometers (6 miles) west of the border with Belarus.
