The New York Giants have signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a one-year contract, according to multiple<\/a> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deal includes $10.5 million guaranteed for Wilson, with a potential to earn $21 million, according to both NFL Network and ESPN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilson, 36, played in 11 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, completing 63.7% of his passes for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdowns and five interceptions. Wilson posted a 6-5 record in his 11 starts for the Steelers, his first season with a record above .500 since 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Giants will be the third team Wilson has played for in three seasons. Before his lone year in Pittsburgh, Wilson was a member of the Denver Broncos from 2022 to 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York started last season with Daniel Jones at quarterback before releasing the former first-round pick<\/a> last November. The other quarterbacks currently on the Giants\u2019 roster are Tommy DeVito and the recently signed Jameis Winston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once a perennial MVP candidate, Wilson\u2019s play has declined in the last few seasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 2015 through 2020, Wilson threw at least 30 touchdown passes in five of six seasons. Since 2021, Wilson has not thrown for more than 26 in a single year. He has also not posted a passer rating above 100 since 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last offseason, Wilson signed a one-year deal with the Steelers after the Broncos incurred an $85 million salary-cap penalty to release him. Wilson earned more than $37 million from Denver in 2024 despite not being on the team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pittsburgh began last season with Justin Fields as its starting quarterback before Wilson took over after six games. Wilson went 5-1 in his first six starts, but finished the regular season 1-4. He also started the Steelers\u2019 first-round playoff loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A third-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, Wilson in his career has thrown for 350 touchdowns and 46,135 yards, with a 99.8 passer rating. A 10-time Pro Bowler, he helped the Seahawks win Super Bowl 48 over the Broncos in 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New York finished 3-14 last season and will have the third overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
