{"id":40100,"date":"2025-03-23T23:46:00","date_gmt":"2025-03-24T04:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40100"},"modified":"2025-03-24T03:26:45","modified_gmt":"2025-03-24T08:26:45","slug":"trump-administration-to-end-legal-status-of-500000-migrants-from-cuba-haiti-nicaragua-and-venezuela","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=40100","title":{"rendered":"Trump administration to end legal status of 500,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Trump administration is ending legal status for more than 500,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/public-inspection.federalregister.gov\/2025-05128.pdf\"><u>a notice posted<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">DHS said it would be rescinding \u201ccategorical parole programs for inadmissible aliens\u201d from the listed countries and their immediate family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It\u2019s the latest move from the administration cracking down on immigration and rescinding Biden-era policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cOver the previous two years, DHS has implemented programs through which inadmissible aliens who are citizens or nationals of designated countries, and their immediate family members, could request authorization to travel to the United States in order to be considered for parole into the country,\u201d the notice said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Migrants in the programs have been told they have to leave the country by April 24, which is 30 days after the notice is officially published on the Federal Register.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The department teased in January that it would be phasing out parole programs that allow some people to temporarily live and work in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe Biden-Harris Administration abused the humanitarian parole program to indiscriminately allow 1.5 million migrants to enter our country. This was all stopped on day one of the Trump Administration,\u201d the department said in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2025\/01\/21\/statement-dhs-spokesperson-directives-expanding-law-enforcement-and-ending-abuse\"><u>a statement<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The parole programs previously allowed a migrant to stay in the U.S. for up to two years.
