{"id":38976,"date":"2025-02-25T19:51:00","date_gmt":"2025-02-26T01:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=38976"},"modified":"2025-02-25T21:37:56","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T03:37:56","slug":"trump-courts-rich-immigrants","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=38976","title":{"rendered":"Trump courts rich immigrants"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Trump pitches \u2018gold card\u2019 to replace EB5 investor visa<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Trump administration said Tuesday that it would increase the funds required to secure the status while dubbing the new option a \u201cgold card.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Commerce Secretary\u00a0<strong>Howard Lutnick<\/strong>\u00a0told reporters in the Oval Office that the Trump administration would be ending the existing EB5 visa program, while President Trump boasted the new visa would bolster the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWe\u2019re going to be putting a price on that card of&nbsp;<strong>about $5 million<\/strong>&nbsp;and that\u2019s going to give you green card privileges, plus it\u2019s going to be a route to citizenship,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAnd wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card. They\u2019ll be wealthy, and they\u2019ll be successful, and they\u2019ll be&nbsp;<strong>spending a lot of money<\/strong>&nbsp;and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people, and we think it\u2019s going to be extremely successful,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">While Trump said the new system has \u201cnever been done before, anything like this,\u201d the broad strokes of what he announced sound similar to the existing&nbsp;<strong>EB5 investor program<\/strong>, albeit with a higher price tag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The current program requires would-be investors to invest a little over $1 million and\u00a0<strong>create at least 10 jobs<\/strong>.
