The report raises concerns about visas, creaking infrastructure and poor security technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The report says that the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/world-cup-football\">World Cup<\/a>, Olympics and Paralympics, 2025 Ryder Cup and celebrations for the US\u2019s 250th birthday could draw in an estimated 40 million visitors to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWe\u2019re not ready to host the upcoming mega decade of events that will draw millions of domestic and international travelers. This poses risks to our national security and hampers economic growth,\u201d the report says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">While the Trump administration&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/feb\/17\/trump-musk-government-cost-cutting-coup\">has made significant cuts across the government<\/a>, the US Travel Association said there needs to be investment in visa processing and airport security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe president has been outspoken about making this the gold standard of World Cups, the best Olympics that has ever been held,\u201d Geoff Freeman, the US Travel Association\u2019s CEO,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/43923123\/us-travel-system-not-ready-world-cup-olympics\">told ESPN<\/a>. \u201cTo do those things, to achieve those goals, you\u2019ve got to make some of these investments.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Freeman said he had met with White House officials in the last week. He highlighted visa wait times as a particular problem area, with approval times for some countries that may reach the World Cup \u2013 such as Colombia \u2013 currently running at nearly two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cPeople want to come, but they\u2019re not coming,\u201d Freeman said. \u201cIt gets down to these visa wait times. It gets down to the customs inefficiencies. It gets down to a perception in instances that people aren\u2019t welcome. We\u2019re very concerned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The US will co-host the World Cup with Mexico and Canada, although most of the game will take place in the US.
