Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rebuked President Joe Biden for claiming king-level authority to ignore Congress\u2019 annual migration numbers.
\n\u201cHey, Mr. President, again, just a reminder: You\u2019re a president, you\u2019re not a dictator, not a king. You have to follow the rules, the laws, just like everybody else,\u201d Paxton\u00a0said\u00a0in a January 8 Fox News interview.
\nPaxton\u2019s rebuke follows Biden\u2019s announcement last week that he would allow 360,000 migrants from four countries to live and work in the United States, regardless of Congress\u2019 annual cap of about 1 million new legal immigrants.
\n\u201cToday, I\u2019m announcing that my administration is going to expand the parole program for people not only from Venezuela, but from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Haiti,\u201d Biden\u00a0told\u00a0reporters at a January 5 press conference.
\nBiden claimed he has the power to raise immigration numbers because congressional Republicans do not want to vote for his mass immigration policies. \u201cI\u2019m left with only one choice \u2014 to act on my own, do as much as I can on my own,\u201d Biden said.
\nBoth Paxton and Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody are leading lawsuits against Biden\u2019s refusal to accept Congress law requiring the detention of migrants at the border. Paxton\u2019s\u2002lawsuit\u00a0is being debated by the Supreme Court, and\u00a0Moody\u2019s lawsuit\u00a0was heard in a federal court in Florida today. Paxton also filed\u00a0a lawsuit\u00a0Monday against Biden\u2019s refusal to respect Congress\u2019 curbs on the inflow of welfare-dependent migrants.<\/p>\n
