Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, got into a heated exchange at a House hearing Tuesday that culminated with Mace challenging Crockett by asking whether she wanted to \u201ctake it outside.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The war of words came during a discussion of civil rights and transgender rights, with Crockett calling for re-establishing a subcommittee on civil rights and criticizing Mace\u2019s rhetoric about transgender people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI can see that somebody\u2019s campaign coffers really are struggling right now. So [Mace] is gonna keep saying \u2018trans, trans, trans, trans\u2019 so that people will feel threatened, and child, listen \u2014\u201d Crockett said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am no child, do not call me a child, I am no child,\u201d Mace interjected, prompting committee chair James Comer, R-Ky., to unsuccessfully call for order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf you want to take it outside, we can do that,\u201d Mace said, addressing Crockett.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Rep. Maxwell Frost, D-Fla., tried to defend Crockett, saying Mace had incited violence against her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">After some discussion, Comer ruled that Mace\u2019s remark had not been a call to violence, saying she could have been asking Crockett to go outside to \u201chave a cup of coffee or perhaps a beer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Spokespeople for Mace and Crockett did not immediately respond to requests for comment Tuesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The two took to X, however, to defend themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Mace posted about the incident upward of a dozen times,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepNancyMace\/status\/1879355070938251626\">acknowledging that she went \u201coff\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;on Crockett but saying her call to go outside was not intended to mean she wanted to fight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLet me be clear: I wanted to take the conversation off the floor to have a more constructive conversation, not to fight. At no point was there any intention of causing harm to anyone,\u201d she wrote in one post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Crockett said on X that she had been threatened, and she called Mace \u201can attention seeking loser.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLast I&nbsp;checked, threatening members in a committee room doesn\u2019t exactly reduce the cost of eggs,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JasmineForUS\/status\/1879322272990957628\">she wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Mace in recent months has become known for her actions toward transgender people. Following the election of the first openly transgender member of Congress, Rep. Sarah McBride, D-Del. , Mace&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/nancy-mace-seeks-ban-transgender-women-female-bathrooms-capitol-rcna180725\">introduced a measure<\/a>&nbsp;banning transgender women from female bathrooms on Capitol Hill.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/nancy-mace-defends-anti-trans-bathroom-bill-says-absolutely-targets-sa-rcna180805\">Mace later said<\/a>&nbsp;the resolution was \u201cabsolutely\u201d meant to target McBride, and she has since visited her district to speak to the state\u2019s Republican Party about the measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The House Oversight Committee room where Tuesday&#8217;s exchange took place was also the site of a meeting last year that&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/house-committee-meeting-devolves-chaos-personal-insults-marjorie-taylo-rcna152698\">devolved into chaos<\/a>&nbsp;amid personal insults. In May, a hearing imploded after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.,&nbsp;responded to a question from Crockett by saying, \u201cI think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you\u2019re reading.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">When Comer ruled that Greene\u2019s words had not violated the committee\u2019s rules, Crockett asked: \u201cI\u2019m just curious, just to better understand your ruling. If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody\u2019s bleach blond, bad-built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/nancy-mace-challenges-jasmine-crockett-house-hearing-rcna187731\">Nbcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Rep.
