Ex-Trump adviser denounces tech CEO\u2019s embrace of some forms of immigration and vows to \u2018take this guy down\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an escalation of discontent among the highest-profile far-right followers of Donald Trump<\/a>, his former adviser Steve Bannon<\/a> has called Trump\u2019s newest favorite, Elon Musk<\/a>, \u201cracist\u201d and a \u201ctruly evil guy\u201d, pledging to \u201ctake this guy down\u201d and kick him out of the Maga movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In an interview with the Corriere della Sera<\/a> newspaper in Italy, excerpts of which were published<\/a> this weekend by Breitbart, Bannon criticised Musk\u2019s embrace of some forms of immigration and vowed to ensure that Musk does not have top-level access to the White House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe is a truly evil guy, a very bad guy. I made it my personal thing to take this guy down,\u201d Bannon said. \u201cBefore, because he put money in, I was prepared to tolerate it \u2013 I\u2019m not prepared to tolerate it any more.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n He added: \u201cI will have Elon Musk<\/a> run out of here by inauguration day\u201d, which falls on 20 January. \u201cHe will not have full access to the White House. He will be like any other person.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Musk became one of Trump\u2019s biggest cheerleaders<\/a>, and certainly his richest, during the Republican\u2019s ultimately successful campaign to regain the US presidency, spending reportedly about $270m and being rewarded with a place at Trump\u2019s side ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n After his victory Trump tapped Musk to help lead an advisory group theoretically dedicated to cutting US government spending by up to $2tn, a quarter of its entire budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
