President-elect Trump\u2002<\/u><\/a>on Sunday blasted the \u201ccorrupt\u201d and \u201cbroken\u201d legal system ahead of a Jan. 10<\/u><\/a> sentencing date in his New York hush money case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Truth Social post<\/u><\/a> highlighted by Mediaite, the president-elect said<\/u><\/a> Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg\u2002<\/u><\/a>(D) \u201cnever wanted to bring this lawless case against me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe was furious at the way it was handled, and especially angry at MARK POMERANTZ for his behavior, and what he did,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pomerantz, a former Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office<\/u><\/a> prosecutor who worked on an investigation<\/u><\/a> by the office of hush money payments from Trump, has said that<\/u><\/a> Bragg possessed sufficient evidence to convict Trump in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cUltimately, the Biden\/Harris DOJ forced Bragg to concoct anything to embarrass TRUMP. But it was even more so what the CORRUPT and TOTALLY CONFLICTED POLITICAL HACK Judge did, and is doing, on this sham trial,\u201d Trump said in his Sunday post. \u201cI even have, STILL, an Unconstitutional Gag Order where I am not allowed to speak about the Judge\u2019s highly disqualifying Conflicts of Interest. Virtually ever legal scholar and pundit says THERE IS NO (ZERO!) CASE AGAINST ME.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Judge fabricated the facts, and the law, no different than the other New York Judicial and Prosecutorial Witch Hunts,\u201d he added. \u201cThat\u2019s why businesses are fleeing New York, taking with them millions of jobs, and BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN TAXES. The legal system is broken, and businesses can\u2019t take a chance in getting caught up in this quicksand. IT\u2019S ALL RIGGED, in this case against a political opponent, ME!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, Judge Juan Merchan\u2002<\/u><\/a>ordered Trump\u2019s hush money case criminal sentencing<\/u><\/a> for next Friday, rejecting a demand from the president-elect for the case to be dismissed for the accommodation of his presidency after his election victory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump on Friday expressed his frustration<\/u><\/a> on Truth Social in the wake of Merchan setting next week\u2019s sentencing date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis illegitimate political attack is nothing but a Rigged Charade. \u2018Acting\u2019 Justice Merchan, who is a radical partisan, just issued another order that is knowingly unlawful, goes against our Constitution and, if allowed to stand, would be the end of the Presidency as we know it,\u201d Trump said on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill has reached out to a legal services organization Pomerantz is a part of, the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office, the New York State Unified Court System\u2019s Department of Communications and the Department of Justice for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
