{"id":36709,"date":"2025-01-02T18:53:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-03T00:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=36709"},"modified":"2025-01-02T21:04:52","modified_gmt":"2025-01-03T03:04:52","slug":"california-11-people-injured-after-small-plane-crashes-and-fire-breaks-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=36709","title":{"rendered":"California: 11 people injured after small plane crashes and fire breaks out"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Officials say police and fire trucks arrived on scene after aircraft crashed into commercial building in Fullerton<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Eleven people were injured when a small plane collided into the rooftop of a commercial building in southern&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/california\">California<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday, police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Police received a report at 2.09pm about the crash in the Orange county city of Fullerton, said Kristy Wells, a Fullerton police spokesperson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Police and fire authorities arrived on scene and battled a subsequent blaze and evacuated surrounding businesses, Wells said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It was not immediately known what type of plane it was or whether those injured were in the aircraft or on the ground, Wells said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The crash occurred in a building near the Fullerton municipal airport,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ktla.com\/news\/california\/smoke-billows-from-plane-crash-in-fullerton\/\/\">KTLA5 reported<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Orange County Registrar&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocregister.com\/2025\/01\/02\/plane-crashes-into-fullerton-building\/\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that the pilot had radioed into the Federal Aviation Administration tower at the airfield about 90 seconds after takeoff, saying the plane would need to make an emergency landing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Fullerton is a city of about 140,000 people 25 miles (40km) south-east of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/jan\/02\/california-small-plane-crash\">theguardian<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Officials say police and fire trucks arrived on scene after aircraft crashed into commercial building in Fullerton Eleven people were injured when a small plane collided into the rooftop of a commercial building in southern&nbsp;California&nbsp;on Thursday, police said.
