{"id":3644,"date":"2023-01-07T03:40:19","date_gmt":"2023-01-07T09:40:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=3644"},"modified":"2023-03-20T03:09:41","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T08:09:41","slug":"tech-stocks-headed-for-bloodbath-in-2023-more-job-threats-expected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=3644","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Tech stocks headed for \u2018bloodbath\u2019 in 2023, more \u2018job threats\u2019 expected<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amid wave of industry layoffs, mega cap tech like Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, and Alphabet extend losses into New Year<br \/>\nThe outlook for\u00a0technology stocks\u00a0in 2023 isn&#8217;t looking much better than 2022, when the sector underperformed on Wall Street\u00a0amid layoffs\u00a0that are spilling over into the new year.<br \/>\nApple, Amazon, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla all ended 2022 well beneath the redline and all down over a one-year period.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with FOX Business on Friday, Eric Schiffer, CEO of the private equity firm, The Patriarch Organization, said: &#8220;Because tech is so oversold, there might be potential exits for a limited short-term bear rally, but there is a danger facing shareholders.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Shareholders should brace themselves for a deeper brutal tech bloodbath driven by the Fed and its \u2018Terminator\u2019 like mission to raise rates and wipe out inflation,&#8221; he warned. &#8220;Many tech companies will enact job carnage in the first quarter, with Salesforce and Amazon just the start.&#8221;<br \/>\n&#8220;Elon Musk\u00a0showed tech leaders that most startups and mid-level firms are insanely overstaffed and that you can run a tech firm with far less people, which will pose further threats to jobs as many CEO\u2019s, VC\u2019s and PE firms model Musk,&#8221; he added.<br \/>\nAfter buying Twitter for $44 billion, Musk said he would cut the workforce by 66%.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon announced Wednesday that it will\u00a0cut about 18,000 positions\u00a0to post the largest number of layoffs in company history, while Salesforce also announced job cuts on Wednesday and\u00a0will lay off 10%\u00a0of its workforce as part of a plan to reduce operating costs and improve operating margins amid the challenging economic environment.<br \/>\nOther firms announcing layoffs this week include online personal stylist Stitch Fix and video platform Vimeo.
