Former President Bill Clinton<\/a> has been hospitalized in Washington after he developed a fever, a top aide told NBC News on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinton, 78, “has been admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for testing and observation after developing a fever,” said Angel Ure\u00f1a, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“He is in good spirits and grateful for the care he is receiving,” Ure\u00f1a said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A source close to Clinton, the 42nd president, said the situation is “not urgent.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The former president will be fine,” the source said. “He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinton has faced a number of health scares<\/a> since he left office in 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He underwent a quadruple bypass operation<\/a> at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in 2004 and returned<\/a> to the same hospital for another heart procedure in 2010, when two stents were inserted into a coronary artery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was also hospitalized<\/a>\u2002for six days<\/a> in California in 2021 with a urological infection<\/a> that spread to his bloodstream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinton campaigned vigorously for Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris this year and recently released a memoir about his post-presidential life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinton has spoken at every Democratic National Convention since 1976, including this August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI want to say this from the bottom of my heart,\u201d he sa<\/a>i<\/a>d in that\u2002<\/a>address<\/a>. \u201cI have no idea how many more of these I\u2019ll be able to come to.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
