{"id":36228,"date":"2024-12-22T20:57:57","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T02:57:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=36228"},"modified":"2024-12-22T21:01:40","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T03:01:40","slug":"politico-oped-urges-federal-workers-to-resist-trump-from-inside-administration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=36228","title":{"rendered":"Politico Oped Urges Federal Workers to Resist Trump from Inside Administration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Politico published an opinion piece Sunday from a former attorney of Bill Clinton and Brett Kavanaugh accuser, \u201cpleading\u201d with government employees to keep their jobs to fight the incoming Trump administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Max Stier, the president and CEO of civil service-focused nonprofit Partnership for Public Service, put up the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/magazine\/2024\/12\/22\/dear-federal-workers-dont-quit-00195750?nname=playbook&amp;nid=0000014f-1646-d88f-a1cf-5f46b7bd0000&amp;nrid=0000014e-f103-dd93-ad7f-f9073ad50000&amp;nlid=630318\">piece<\/a>, titled \u201cDear Federal Workers: Don\u2019t Quit,\u201d on the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cOver the next few weeks, U.S. civil servants will spend the holidays wrestling with a tough choice: Stay in your jobs and work for a president who openly disdains you and might try to fire you \u2014 or quit,\u201d wrote Stier, a lawyer who previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/09\/17\/kavanaughs-accuser-max-stier-is-former-clinton-lawyer-obama-donor\/\">represented<\/a>&nbsp;former President Clinton during the Whitewater investigation. \u201cI have already heard from many of you who would rather try your luck on the job market than wait for President-elect Donald Trump\u2019s promised purge.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI am asking you \u2014 pleading with you: stay. Your decision isn\u2019t just about your career, or a single president. It\u2019s part of a larger war, one waged throughout American history, over what the federal government can and should be.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Going on to lament how Trump will not \u201cmake it easy\u201d for government bureaucrats to do their jobs by \u201cslashing\u201d their \u201cvital roles,\u201d the op-ed argued that they must \u201cweather the storm.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIf you head for the exits now, every American will suffer,\u201d Stier wrote, before concluding that unelected federal workers are \u201cthe lifeblood of our democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In September 2019, the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/09\/14\/sunday-review\/brett-kavanaugh-deborah-ramirez-yale.html\">revealed<\/a>&nbsp;allegations made by Stier against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A classmate, Max Stier, saw Mr. Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student. Mr. Stier, who runs a nonprofit organization in Washington, notified senators and the F.B.I. about this account, but the F.B.I. did not investigate and Mr. Stier has declined to discuss it publicly. We corroborated the story with two officials who have communicated with Mr. Stier; the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say she does not recall the episode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">However, former Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said that Stier never told his committee, which was overseeing Kavanaugh\u2019s confirmation and handling the investigation into allegations of sexual assault.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThat person, Mr. Stier, didn\u2019t reach out or provide information to the committee majority. \u2026 My office never received anything from Mr. Stier or his unnamed friends,\u201d Grassley&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/461652-grassley-kavanaugh-classmate-didnt-contact-senate-panel\/\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>Hill<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2024\/12\/22\/politico-oped-urges-federal-workers-to-resist-trump-from-inside-administration\/\">breitbart<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Politico published an opinion piece Sunday from a former attorney of Bill Clinton and Brett Kavanaugh accuser, \u201cpleading\u201d with government employees to keep their jobs to fight the incoming Trump administration.
