J. Ann Selzer, a pollster for The Des Moines Register, vehemently denied any intent to sway an election poll during the 2024 presidential election. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am mystified about what the motivation anybody thinks I had and would act on in such a public poll,\u201d Selzer stated during a Friday interview<\/u><\/a> on PBS\u2019s \u201cIowa Press.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cSo, the idea that I intentionally set up to deliver this response, when I\u2019ve never done that before, I\u2019ve had plenty of opportunities to do it, it\u2019s not my ethic,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTo suggest without a single shred of evidence that I was in cahoots with somebody, I was being paid by somebody, it\u2019s all just kind of \u2026 it\u2019s hard to pay too much attention to it except that they are accusing me of a crime,\u201d she said in response to President-elect Trump\u2019s\u2002<\/u><\/a>accusations of her negative intent<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump alleged that Selzer\u2019s poll, which showed him losing by 3 points, was \u201cfake\u201d in a post on Truth Social.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA totally Fake poll that caused great distrust and uncertainty at a very critical time,\u201d Trump wrote after winning<\/u><\/a> the state\u2019s electoral votes by a 16 point distinction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cShe knew exactly what she was doing. Thank you to the GREAT PEOPLE OF IOWA for giving me such a record breaking vote, despite possible ELECTION FRAUD by Ann Selzer\u2002<\/u><\/a>and the now discredited \u2018newspaper\u2019 for which she works,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAn investigation is fully called for!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Selzer said she would move on to \u201cother ventures\u201d after the November election amid controversy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
