{"id":35664,"date":"2024-12-09T01:07:00","date_gmt":"2024-12-09T07:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=35664"},"modified":"2024-12-09T02:12:49","modified_gmt":"2024-12-09T08:12:49","slug":"10-hurt-after-police-traffic-officer-on-a-motorcycle-crashes-into-parade-bystanders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=35664","title":{"rendered":"10 hurt after police traffic officer on a motorcycle crashes into parade bystanders"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">PALM SPRINGS, Calif. &#8212;&nbsp;Ten people were injured after a police traffic officer on a motorcycle crashed into bystanders at a weekend holiday parade in Palm Springs, California, authorities said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">All of the injured were taken to hospitals Saturday night for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, including the officer, according to police.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Witnesses told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.desertsun.com\/story\/news\/local\/2024\/12\/07\/police-officer-crashes-into-crowd-at-palm-springs-holiday-parade\/76846462007\/\">The Desert Sun<\/a>&nbsp;newspaper that the officer was popping a wheelie and suddenly lost control of the motorcycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The bike slid into the crowd of spectators and brought the festive event to a standstill for more than an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Authorities said some emergency responders participating in the parade helped the injured, including crews on ambulances and fire trucks still adorned with holiday lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The crash occurred around 6 p.m. as crowds gathered to watch the 32nd annual Palm Springs Festival of Lights Parade that typically draws between 80,000 and 100,000 spectators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI feel terrible about the accident and injuries to the very people we protect,\u201d Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">City officials said the California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and looking for any witness videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/10-injured-after-police-traffic-officer-motorcycle-crashes-116576977\">abcnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PALM SPRINGS, Calif. &#8212;&nbsp;Ten people were injured after a police traffic officer on a motorcycle crashed into bystanders at a weekend holiday parade in Palm Springs, California, authorities said.
