{"id":3499,"date":"2023-01-05T05:16:32","date_gmt":"2023-01-05T11:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=3499"},"modified":"2023-03-16T21:44:58","modified_gmt":"2023-03-17T02:44:58","slug":"oklahoma-ag-announces-4-new-opioid-settlements-worth-226m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=3499","title":{"rendered":"<strong>Oklahoma AG announces 4 new opioid settlements worth $226M<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) \u2014 Oklahoma entered settlement agreements with three major pharmacy chains and an opioid manufacturer totaling more than $226 million, Attorney General John O\u2019Connor announced Wednesday.<br \/>\nIncluding the new settlements with drugmaker Allergan and pharmacy chains CVS, Walgreens and Walmart, Oklahoma has received more than $900 million from opioid makers and distributors to help address the state\u2019s opioid crisis, O\u2019Connor said.<br \/>\n\u201cThe opioid crisis has inflicted unspeakable pain on Oklahoma families and caused the deaths of thousands of Oklahomans,\u201d O\u2019Connor said in a statement. \u201cBetween 2016 and 2020, more than 3,000 Oklahomans died from opioid overdoses.\u201d<br \/>\nNearly all the settlement funds must be used to help remediate the affects of the opioid crisis in Oklahoma, including prevention and treatment services.<br \/>\nIn November, three of the largest U.S. pharmacy chains reached settlements with states over the toll of opioids worth a total of about $13 billion. Under the\u00a0separate deals, CVS Health and Walgreen Co. are each paying about $5 billion and Walmart is paying more than $3 billion.
