{"id":33594,"date":"2024-10-18T03:45:09","date_gmt":"2024-10-18T08:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=33594"},"modified":"2024-10-31T22:30:38","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T03:30:38","slug":"mother-of-3-year-old-elijah-vue-partner-charged-in-connection-with-childs-death","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=33594","title":{"rendered":"Mother of 3-year-old Elijah Vue, partner charged in connection with child&#8217;s death"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The mother of 3-year-old Wisconsin boy Elijah Vue and her partner were charged Thursday with child neglect and child abuse that resulted in the boy\u2019s death, the Manitowoc County prosecutor said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Elijah\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/human-remains-found-wisconsin-identified-3-year-old-boy-missing-februa-rcna170336\">remains were found in wood<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/human-remains-found-wisconsin-identified-3-year-old-boy-missing-februa-rcna170336\">s<\/a>&nbsp;northwest of Two Rivers in September, more than six months after a report that he was missing touched off an intensive search.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cElijah was a young boy whose life was tragically cut short,\u201d Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre said at a news conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">His mother, Katrina Baur, is charged with chronic neglect of a child where the consequence is death, child neglect and obstructing an officer, LaBre said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Jesse Vang is charged with physical abuse of a child involving repeated acts that cause death, hiding a corpse and obstructing an officer, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Baur and Vang&nbsp;had previously been charged with child neglect, but the new charges allege the boy\u2019s death. Vang is Baur&#8217;s partner,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmj4.com\/news\/local-news\/jesse-vang-katrina-baur-charged-in-death-of-elijah-vue\">NBC affiliate\u2002<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmj4.com\/news\/local-news\/jesse-vang-katrina-baur-charged-in-death-of-elijah-vue\">W<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmj4.com\/news\/local-news\/jesse-vang-katrina-baur-charged-in-death-of-elijah-vue\">TMJ of Milwaukee reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Elijah&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/search-underway-missing-wisconsin-3-year-old-boy-mother-man-face-negle-rcna140434\">was reported missing Feb. 20<\/a>, and authorities conducted searches by land and from the air looking for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A hunter found his remains on Sept. 7 in some woods about 3 miles northwest of Two Rivers, a town of around 11,000 on the shores of Lake Michigan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Baur and Vang were being held in jail Thursday, records show. A bond hearing is expected Friday, LaBre said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Baur and Vang have pleaded not guilty in the earlier child abuse case. An attorney listed as representing Baur did not immediately reply to a request for comment Thursday evening.
