{"id":33472,"date":"2024-10-15T18:37:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-15T23:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=33472"},"modified":"2024-10-31T22:40:38","modified_gmt":"2024-11-01T03:40:38","slug":"north-carolina-republican-sues-cnn-over-report-on-posts-on-pornography-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=33472","title":{"rendered":"North Carolina Republican sues CNN over report on posts on pornography site"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Oct 15 (Reuters) &#8211; North Carolina&#8217;s Republican candidate for governor Mark Robinson filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against CNN on Tuesday, saying the network\u2019s report that he called himself a &#8220;black Nazi&#8221; more than a decade ago on a pornography website and made other inflammatory comments was &#8220;recklessly false.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of Wake County, North Carolina, by Robinson, an African-American who is also the lieutenant governor in North Carolina, denied that he made the comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">It called CNN\u2019s September report a \u201cmalicious hit job\u201d that was based on unverifiable data and was timed to derail his chances in the state\u2019s Nov. 5 gubernatorial election, where he faces Democrat Josh Stein, the state&#8217;s attorney general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">A CNN spokesperson declined to comment. Attorneys for Robinson did not immediately respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">At a press conference on Tuesday, Robinson called his lawsuit an effort to fight back against \u201cone of the greatest examples of political interference in this state\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Robinson, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, is represented by Virginia attorney Jesse Binnall, who has represented Trump in prior cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The CNN report&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/north-carolina-republican-vows-stay-governors-race-after-calling-himself-black-2024-09-19\/\"><u>attributed a number of sexual, lewd and offensive posts<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;on a pornography site to Robinson, who it claimed posted under the name \u201cminisoldr.\u201d In one 2010 post on the site, CNN reported that Robinson wrote, &#8220;Slavery is not bad. Some people need to be slaves. I wish they would bring it (slavery) back.
