Vice President Kamala Harris<\/u><\/a> slammed Republican rival Donald Trump<\/u><\/a> in Pennsylvania on Monday night over the former president\u2019s comment that the US military should handle \u201cthe enemy from within\u201d on Election Day<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the latest example of Harris\u2019 campaign drawing sharper distinctions with Trump in the presidential race\u2019s closing weeks, using the former president\u2019s own words and those of his former aides to cast him as dangerous and unstable.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Erie on Monday, Harris highlighted Trump\u2019s comments Sunday on Fox News, when he said he isn\u2019t worried about his supporters\u2019 actions on Election Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think the bigger problem is the enemy from within,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have some very bad people. We have some sick people. Radical left lunatics,\u201d Trump told Fox News\u2019 Maria Bartiromo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harris on Monday warned that Trump\u2019s actions could put people\u2019s freedom at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou heard his words, coming from him. He\u2019s talking about the enemy within \u2026 he\u2019s talking about that he considers anyone that doesn\u2019t support him, or who will not bend to his will, an enemy of our country,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said later, \u201cHe\u2019s saying he would use the military to go after them \u2026 and we know who he would target, because he has attacked them before: Journalists whose stories who he doesn\u2019t like, election officials who refuse to cheat by finding extra votes for him, judges who insist on following the law instead of bending to his will. This is among the reasons I believe so strongly that a second Trump term would be a huge risk for America, and dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harris\u2019 campaign will also release a new ad, dubbed \u201cEnemy Within,\u201d which features Trump repeatedly invoking the phrase \u201cthe enemy from within\u201d on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 30-second spot includes two former Trump aides, Olivia Troye, who served as an aide to former Vice President Mike Pence, and Kevin Carroll, a former Trump Homeland Security official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI do remember the day that he suggested that we shoot people on the streets,\u201d Troye says in the ad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe second term would be worse,\u201d Carroll says in the ad. \u201cThere will be no one to stop his worst instincts. Unchecked power. No guardrails. We elect Trump again, we\u2019re in terrible danger.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris\u2019 vice presidential pick, told hundreds of supporters at a convention center in Green Bay, Wisconsin that Trump\u2019s suggestion at using the National Guard or the US military to respond to political opposition to him \u201cmakes me sick to my stomach\u201d and referred to Trump as \u201ca fascist to his core.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs someone who wore this nation\u2019s uniform proudly, as someone who now is the commander In chief of the Minnesota National Guard, the idea of sending US military personnel against American citizens makes me sick to my stomach,\u201d Walz said. \u201cWe\u2019ll let the lawyers decide if what he said was treason. But what I know is, it\u2019s a call for violence, plain and simple, and it\u2019s pretty damn un-American, if you ask me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walz\u2019s vice presidential candidate counterpart, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, attempted to defend Trump\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIs it a justifiable use of those assets if they\u2019re rioting and looting and burning cities down to the ground? Of course it is. Right? I think the question is, is it a justifiable use of assets, depends on what\u2019s actually happening,\u201d Vance told reporters in Minneapolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance also claimed there were \u201ca core group of far-left activists\u201d who were willing to harass and commit violence against fellow Americans in 2016 and after the death of George Floyd in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance said \u201cone of the ways\u201d he interprets the \u201cenemy within\u201d comment is unvetted undocumented immigrants inside the country due to the Biden administration\u2019s border polices, while Trump suggested people within the country pose a bigger threat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the past three-and-a-half years, Kamala Harris\u2019 open border has allowed at least hundreds and maybe thousands of people that we know are on the terrorism watch list thanks to her Special Immigrant Visa Program in the wake of the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal,\u201d Vance said. \u201cThe enemy within are people that Kamala Harris let into this country, unvetted, unchecked and undocumented.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her event Monday, Harris also plans to show attendees in Erie what Trump rallies are like, the aide said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has previously urged voters to watch Trump rallies \u2013 an unusual move for a candidate, and one that underscores the Harris campaign\u2019s belief that an unfiltered Trump is damaging to his own prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYou will see during the course of his rallies he talks about fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter. He will talk about windmills cause cancer. And what you will also notice is that people start leaving his rallies early out of exhaustion and boredom,\u201d Harris said in her debate with Trump last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her campaign in recent days has featured Republicans, including former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, highlighting Trump\u2019s efforts to overturn the 2020 election and his supporters\u2019 attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week she launched an ad in North Carolina that included highlights from a recent campaign event with Cheney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFormer generals, secretaries of defense, secretaries of the Army, Navy and Air Force, CIA directors, and National Security Council leaders under Democratic and Republican presidents, Republican members of Congress and even former Trump administration officials agree: There\u2019s only one candidate fit to lead our nation and that\u2019s Kamala Harris,\u201d a narrator said in that spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
