{"id":32838,"date":"2024-09-29T16:46:00","date_gmt":"2024-09-29T21:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=32838"},"modified":"2024-09-29T20:55:35","modified_gmt":"2024-09-30T01:55:35","slug":"multiple-people-killed-after-small-plane-crash-in-north-carolina-nps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=32838","title":{"rendered":"Multiple people killed after small plane crash in North Carolina: NPS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Wright Brothers National Memorial airport is closed Sunday following the crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Multiple people were killed after a single-engine plane crashed into the woods near the Wright Brothers National Memorial&#8217;s First Flight Airport in North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The crash occurred on Saturday at approximately 5 p.m. ET, according to a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/wrbr\/learn\/news\/single-engine-airplane-crashes-into-woods-near-first-flight-airport.htm\"><u>press release<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;from the National Park Service (NPS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The number of people killed and their identities have not been released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Eyewitnesses reported that the airplane crashed while attempting to land at the airport, according to the NPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The plane caught fire as a result of the crash and was extinguished by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department and other local fire departments, according to the NPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">An investigation into the crash is being conducted by the National Transportation Safety Board, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Wright Brothers National Memorial&nbsp;is closed Sunday as the investigation continues, according to the NPS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/multiple-killed-small-plane-crash-wright-brothers-memorial-airport-north-carolina\/story?id=114332141\">abcnews<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wright Brothers National Memorial airport is closed Sunday following the crash.
