Greg Abbott\u00a0tweeted images of National Guard soldiers unraveling bundles of razor-lined wire at the border on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Texas National Guard installs razor wire long the border in an effort to stop immigrants from illegally crossing into the country from Mexico.\u00a0(Texas Governor Greg Abbott)<br \/>\n&#8220;Texas National Guard are installing additional layers of razor wire in high-traffic areas for illegal crossings at the Texas-Mexico border,&#8221; the governor said. &#8220;They\u2019re working around the clock to secure the border in the federal government\u2019s absence.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move comes just days after Abbott issued a press release on Dec. 29, 2022, highlighting actions taken by the state through Operation Lone Star to take on illegal immigration where federal agencies have failed.<br \/>\nAbbott said the multi-agency effort led to more than 336,000 migrant apprehensions and more than 23,000 criminal arrests since its launch in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Of those criminal arrests, more than 20,000 felony charges were filed.<br \/>\nAbbott also said the Texas Department of Public Safety, which is collaborating with the National Guard to execute\u00a0Operation Lone Star, seized more than 354 million lethal doses of fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/texas-installs-additional-layers-razor-wire-stop-illegal-crossings\">Foxnews<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Texas National Guard\u00a0began installing more razor wire along the border this week to stop illegal immigrants from crossing into Texas from Mexico.
