{"id":30899,"date":"2024-08-14T03:38:38","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T08:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=30899"},"modified":"2024-08-14T03:39:20","modified_gmt":"2024-08-14T08:39:20","slug":"lightning-strike-injures-2-near-horseshoe-bend-in-arizona-national-park-service-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=30899","title":{"rendered":"Lightning strike injures 2 near Horseshoe Bend in Arizona, National Park Service says"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Two people were flown to George Regional Hospital in Utah on Monday after being struck by lightning while visiting the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, according to the National Park Service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/glca\/learn\/news\/lightning-strike-at-horseshoe-bend-overlook-injures-two-park-visitors.htm\"><u>a statement<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;released on Tuesday, authorities said that two women &#8212; aged 22 and 23 years old, one from the Netherlands and one from Australia &#8212; &#8220;sustained injuries&#8221; in the lightning strike while standing near the rim of the famed Horseshoe Bend, along the Colorado River in Arizona.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Classic Air Medical and City of Page Fire Department quickly responded to assist National Park Service Rangers with on scene patient care,&#8221; the statement said. &#8220;Both victims were flown to St. George Regional Hospital in Utah by Classic Air Medical helicopters.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Glen Canyon National Recreation Area straddles the Utah-Arizona state border.
