The Palo Alto office already has staff from xAI, another Elon Musk-owned firm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is an important decision that impacts many of you, but it is the right one for our company in the long term,\u201d Yaccarino wrote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Musk&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/4775245-elon-musk-spacex-x-headquarters-california-texas\/\"><u>previously promised<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;to move the company\u2019s headquarters to Texas in response to a California law barring teachers from forcibly outing the gender identity of students. SpaceX, also owned by Musk, similarly announced it would move its California headquarters to The Lone Star State last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">X, formerly Twitter, has been headquartered in San Francisco since its founding in 2006. Musk purchased and renamed the company in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The headquarters building itself has garnered headlines since Musk took over the company after X reportedly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/ap\/ap-technology\/ap-elon-musk-cuts-twitter-expenses-by-falling-behind-on-bills\/\"><u>missed rent payments<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;and attempted to turn empty office spaces into temporary residences for traveling employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Last year, the company&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/4126677-san-francisco-investigating-musks-twitter-hq-after-giant-x-installed-on-roof\/\"><u>clashed with city authorities<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;over a large glowing \u201cX\u201d sign on its roof after neighbors compared it to a bright strobe light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/technology\/4812828-elon-musk-x-close-san-francisco-office-reports\/\">Thehill<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The social media site X will close its San Francisco office and move workers elsewhere in the Bay Area, it announced internally Monday,&nbsp;according to The New York Times.
