Students at the schools were forced to cut their hair and punished for speaking tribal languages, part of a broader effort by the government to&nbsp;<strong>forcibly assimilate them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Lieut.
