Tech billionaire Elon Musk\u2002<\/u><\/a>slammed Vice President Harris as an \u201cextinctionist\u201d in response to a resurfaced video of the vice president discussing the \u201cclimate anxiety\u201d young people have felt when thinking about their futures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShamala is an extinctionist. The natural extension of her philosophy would be a de facto holocaust for all of humanity!\u201d Musk wrote Saturday<\/u><\/a> on the social platform X.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Musk was responding to a video<\/u><\/a> from September 2023, shared by Donald Trump Jr.\u2002<\/u><\/a>\u2014 former President Trump\u2019s son \u2014 and Sen. JD Vance\u2002<\/u><\/a>(R-Ohio) \u2014 Trump\u2019s running mate \u2014 during which Harris argued the large young voter turnout in 2020 was in part due to their concerns about climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause young people said, \u2018We\u2019re not leaving it to other people to decide how we\u2019re dealing with the climate crisis\u2019 \u2014 you know, I\u2019ve heard young leaders talk with me about a term they\u2019ve coined called \u2018climate anxiety<\/u><\/a>,’\u201d Harris said at Reading Area Community College, as part of her \u201cFight for Our Freedoms\u201d college tour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhich is fear of \u2014 of the future and the unknown of whether it makes sense for you to even think about having children, whether it makes sense for you to think about aspiring to buy a home \u2026 because what will this climate be?\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing a 15-second clip of the remarks, Trump Jr. on Saturday baselessly claimed Harris was \u201csuggesting young people should not have children due to climate change.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vance then reposted Trump Jr.\u2019s comments on X, writing, \u201cIt\u2019s almost like these people don\u2019t want young people starting families or something. Really weird stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harris\u2019s remarks received initial scrutiny<\/u><\/a> by some Republicans and political pundits last year when she made the comments, while some social<\/u><\/a>\u2002<\/u><\/a>media users claimed<\/u><\/a> it was the economy that drove them to the polls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hill reached out to Harris\u2019s campaign for further comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since launching her presidential bid a week ago in the wake of President Biden\u2019s withdrawal from the race, Harris has faced a series of attacks<\/u><\/a> from Republicans looking to see Trump back in office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
