{"id":30175,"date":"2024-07-28T01:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-07-28T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=30175"},"modified":"2024-07-28T03:02:53","modified_gmt":"2024-07-28T08:02:53","slug":"3-members-of-gospel-music-hall-of-fame-quartet-among-7-killed-in-wyoming-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=30175","title":{"rendered":"3 members of Gospel Music Hall of Fame quartet among 7 killed in Wyoming plane crash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Three members of the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame quartet the Nelons and the chairman of the Georgia Board of Corrections are among seven people killed in a plane crash in Wyoming, according to the fourth member of the group<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Three members of the Nelons, a Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame quartet and the chairman of the board overseeing the Georgia Department of Corrections, were among seven people killed in a plane crash in Wyoming, according to a statement by a group member who was not aboard the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Nelons co-founder, Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter, Amber Nelon Kistler died in the crash Friday afternoon, according to a statement from another daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman. She is the fourth member of the Georgia-based quartet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThank you for the prayers that have been extended already to me, my husband, Jamie, and our soon-to-be-born baby boy, as well as Jason\u2019s parents, Dan and Linda Clark,\u201d Nelon Streetman said. \u201cWe appreciate your continued prayers, love and support as we navigate the coming days.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Also killed in the crash were Nelon Kistler&#8217;s husband, Nathan Kistler, family friend Melodi Hodges, and Larry and Melissa Haynie, according to Nelon Streetman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">There were no survivors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Larry Haynie was chairman of the Georgia Board of Corrections and was remembered for \u201ca career of valued public service,\u201d according to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GovKemp\/status\/1817193380079689757\/photo\/1\">a statement<\/a>&nbsp;from Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur entire family is asking everyone to join us in praying for those who have been lost, for their loved ones and communities, and for those throughout the gospel music community who have lost dear friends in this heartbreaking accident,\u201d Kemp said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The group was traveling to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska, according to a statement from Gaither Music Group, the sponsor of the cruise that features numerous gospel singers and groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Gaither Music said Hodges was an assistant for the band and that Larry Haynie was pilot of the aircraft and Melissa Haynie was his wife.
