US President Joe Biden \u201cdoesn\u2019t want to quit\u201d and \u201cmay very well stay\u201d in the race for the White House, Republican rival Donald Trump has said. According to Trump, the Democratic Party will find it difficult to force Biden to quit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the two weeks since he debated a visibly frail and confused Biden, Trump has stayed out of the public eye. Meanwhile, liberal media outlets have run articles questioning Biden\u2019s mental health<\/a>, as Democratic donors and lawmakers reportedly weigh<\/a> their options for forcing the 81-year-old to suspend his reelection campaign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In a phone interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday night, Trump predicted that Biden will withstand the pressure to step down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt looks to me like he may very well stay in,\u201d Trump told Hannity. \u201cHe\u2019s got an ego and he doesn\u2019t want to quit. This isn\u2019t necessarily a very positive thing for our country, but I think he might very well stay in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Biden himself has vowed to stay in the race, telling MSNBC on Monday that he is \u201cnot going anywhere.\u201d In a letter to Democrats in Congress earlier that day, Biden insisted that he \u201cwouldn\u2019t be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Biden won the support of nearly 99% of Democratic delegates during the party\u2019s largely symbolic primary elections this year. This victory gives the president \u201ca lot of power,\u201d Trump told Hannity, adding that removing him from office via a constitutional amendment could be the only option available to the Democrats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cUnless they use the 25th Amendment\u2026 he has all the power,\u201d Trump explained. \u201cHe has the delegates, he doesn\u2019t have to get out. There\u2019s nothing they can do to get him out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Should this come to pass, Trump said that he would expect to face Vice President Kamala Harris in November\u2019s presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI think that [the Democrats] are very concerned about the vote if it\u2019s not her,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are gun-shy, they don\u2019t want to do it any other way. It seems that if he gets out for whatever reason \u2013 and I don\u2019t think he wants to get out \u2013 but if he gets out then it will be her.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump offered a cruder assessment of Biden\u2019s chances in the days after the debate. In leaked footage<\/a> filmed at one of his golf courses in late June, Trump could be heard telling a small group of supporters that Biden would surely be \u201cquitting the race,\u201d calling the president an \u201cold, broken-down pile of crap.\u201d Turning to Harris, Trump said that while she would be a better opponent, she is \u201cso pathetic\u201d and \u201cso f**king bad.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
