Former President Donald Trump<\/u><\/a> on Saturday said he floated the idea of having a \u201cmigrant league of fighters\u201d to UFC President Dana White, again employing dehumanizing language to describe people who enter the US illegally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI said, \u2018Dana, I have an idea: Why don\u2019t you set up a migrant league of fighters and have your regular league of fighters. And then you have the champion of your league \u2014 these are the greatest fighters in the world \u2014 fight the champion of the migrants. I think the migrants\u2019 guy might win, that\u2019s how tough they are,\u201d the presumptive GOP presidential nominee said at a gathering of Christian conservatives<\/u><\/a> in Washington.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump added, \u201cHe didn\u2019t like that idea too much, but actually, it\u2019s not the worst idea I\u2019ve ever had.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former president repeated the comments at a campaign rally in Philadelphia later Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Joe Biden\u2019s campaign swiftly denounced the comments Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFitting that convicted felon Donald Trump spent his time at a religious conference threatening to round up Latinos, bragging about ripping away Americans\u2019 freedoms, and promising to be even more extreme if he regains power,\u201d spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said. \u201cTrump\u2019s incoherent, unhinged tirade showed voters in his own words that he is a threat to our freedoms and is too dangerous to be let anywhere near the White House again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former president has repeatedly used dehumanizing and inflammatory rhetoric when referring to immigrants and has made stoking fears about undocumented immigrants crossing the US-Mexico border a central part of reelection campaign. He said at a campaign rally in Ohio in March that he thought some undocumented migrants were \u201cnot people,\u201d and weeks later said he thought undocumented migrants who commit violent crimes are \u201cnot humans\u201d and instead \u201canimals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump used language often employed by White supremacists and nativists when he claimed<\/u><\/a> in an interview last year that undocumented immigrants were \u201cpoisoning the blood of our country.\u201d The Biden campaign drew a link between the comments and Adolf Hitler, who wrote about the \u201ccontamination of the blood\u201d or \u201cblood poisoning\u201d in \u201cMein Kampf.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The former president regularly claims without evidence that other countries are sending \u201cprisoners, murderers, drug dealers, mental patients and terrorists\u201d to the US. At his campaign rallies, he spotlights violent crimes committed by undocumented immigrants as he bashes Biden\u2019s handling of security at the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As president, Trump took steps to curb both illegal and legal immigration, targeting visa programs and seeking to restrict refugee resettlements. He also temporarily banned travel from seven Muslim-majority countries while in office. During his 2024 campaign, Trump has vowed to<\/u><\/a> carry out the \u201clargest domestic deportation operation in American history\u201d to combat what he claims is an \u201cinvasion of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
