Many turned their heads in the direction of Jean-Pierre as she stayed in the back of the room for a few moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Following her return to the podium, Jean-Pierre asked if people needed water, noting it was hot in the briefing room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Washington, D.C., saw&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/data\/obhistory\/KDCA.html\"><u>temperatures<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in the 90s on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. The agency has also forecast that the District could face sweltering heat as high as 99&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forecast.weather.gov\/MapClick.php?x=243&amp;y=101&amp;site=lwx&amp;zmx=&amp;zmy=&amp;map_x=243&amp;map_y=101\"><u>degrees<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;by Saturday, as a large&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/4724767-midwest-northeast-to-experience-extreme-heat-wave\/\"><u>portion<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of the country beyond the nation\u2019s capital faces intense temperatures this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cDozens of daily temperature records are set to fall over the next few days,\u201d the agency&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWS\/status\/1803175315990098151\"><u>said<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in a Tuesday post on the social platform X. \u201cReadings will generally be much higher than what\u2019s normally expected even during the hottest part of the summer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cStay cool.
