Reeves said that the new Title IX rules also have serious First Amendment implications because they compel speech from educators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">AKentucky federal judge issued a preliminary injunction against the Biden administration\u2019s Title IX overhaul on Kentucky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The injunction comes in a case filed by Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia and comes less than a week after a federal judge in Louisiana&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/article_bab93994-29da-11ef-9b75-078b50a8f730.html?a\"><u>issued a similar ruling<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in a case filed by Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana and Idaho.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Kentucky preliminary injunction only impacts the six states that were part of the lawsuit, along with the Christian Educators Association International.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The new rules finalized by the Department of Education and which are supposed to go into effect Aug. 1 expand the definition of sex discrimination to include gender identity and pregnancy, but the agency didn&#8217;t issue any rules relating to transgender athletes. Among the changes include a prohibition on single-sex bathrooms and locker rooms and requirements that a school use pronouns based on a student&#8217;s preferred gender identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAt bottom, the Department would turn Title IX on its head by redefining \u2018sex\u2019 to include \u2018gender identity,\u2019\u201d the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ago.wv.gov\/Documents\/Mem Op and Order Granting PI - 6.17.pdf\"><u>Kentucky order said<\/u><\/a>. \u201cBut \u2018sex\u2019 and \u2018gender identity\u2019 do not mean the same thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs a parent and as attorney general, I joined this effort to protect our women and girls from harm,&#8221; Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said. &#8220;Today\u2019s ruling recognized the 50-plus years of educational opportunities Title IX has created for students and athletes.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. District Judge Danny C.
