Actor Mamie Laverock has been on life support after a five-story fall, but she has since opened her eyes, her family says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cWhen Calls the Heart\u201d actor\u2019s mom, actor Nicole Rockmann, told the Los Angeles Times<\/a> that Laverock is \u201cdoing well\u201d and hoping for a \u201cturnaround\u201d on her health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cMamie just opened her eyes,\u201d Rockmann said. \u201cLet\u2019s just hope this is the turnaround and she\u2019s going to get through this now. I couldn\u2019t be happier that people reached out and cared. The story will be told.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rockmann said that her daughter\u2019s body was \u201cshattered\u201d after the fall and it\u2019s \u201can absolute miracle\u201d she\u2019s alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll we care about is that Mamie can make a recovery and that she\u2019s alive and that she\u2019s fighting and that she\u2019s strong,\u201d Rockmann said. \u201cIt\u2019s unbelievable that she\u2019s with us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n On May 11, Laverock suffered an undisclosed medical emergency and was taken to a local hospital before eventually being transferred to St. Paul\u2019s Hospital in Vancouver, Canada, the LA Times<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There, on May 26, Laverock fell five stories and was severely injured, her family said. In the actor\u2019s GoFundMe page, the family says that on May 26, Laverock \u201cwas escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Rockmann, Laverock is on life support and was off a ventilator as of May 30 after undergoing several surgeries. The actor was then transferred to an undisclosed trauma receiving center and was no longer at St. Paul\u2019s, her mother told the newspaper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rockmann did not elaborate on her daughter\u2019s injuries, but blames St. Paul\u2019s for Laverock\u2019s fall, saying it was not \u201cintended\u201d and not a suicide attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A spokesperson for Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul\u2019s Hospital, said that \u201can incident occurred\u201d at the hospital. However, the spokesperson said that, \u201cProvidence Health Care cannot comment on this or any patient matters due to privacy and confidentiality policies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIn cases related to patient safety, an internal critical incident review is conducted to determine exactly what happened and to make recommendations for improved patient safety,\u201d the statement read. \u201cOur hearts go out to the patient, family, and all affected by this event, and offer our best wishes for a full recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rockmann did not respond to TODAY.com\u2019s request for comment on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Laverock portrayed nursing student Rosaleen Sullivan in the Hallmark show. She\u2019s also had roles in \u201cThis Mean War,\u201d \u201cThe Hollow Child\u201d and the show \u201cPsych.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Following news of the incident, Hallmark Media said in a statement: \u201cWe are deeply saddened to hear the news about Mamie.
