{"id":27178,"date":"2024-05-14T03:25:05","date_gmt":"2024-05-14T08:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=27178"},"modified":"2024-05-14T03:25:13","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T08:25:13","slug":"longtime-clinton-adviser-sounds-the-alarm-with-biden-is-doing-it-all-wrong-essay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=27178","title":{"rendered":"Longtime Clinton Adviser Sounds The Alarm With \u2018Biden Is Doing It All Wrong\u2019 Essay"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A longtime adviser to former President Bill Clinton has spelled out what he believes could cost President Joe Biden victory in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Mark Penn suggested in an essay for The New York Times \u2014 titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/05\/12\/opinion\/joe-biden-swing-voters.html\">Biden Is Doing It All Wrong<\/a>\u201d \u2014 that the president should stop pandering to his \u201cpolitical base on the left\u201d and \u201cchart a different course\u201d if he wants to beat presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cBy pitching too much to the base, he is leaving behind the centrist swing voters who shift between parties from election to election and, I believe, will be the key factor deciding the 2024 race,\u201d Penn wrote of Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIf Mr. Biden wants to serve another four years, he has to stop being dragged to the left and chart a different course closer to the center that appeals to those voters who favor bipartisan compromises to our core issues, fiscal discipline and a strong America,\u201d he argued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Biden is&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.fivethirtyeight.com\/polls\/president-general\/2024\/national\/\">currently polling slightly behind Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The president is \u201cnot reaching out to moderate voters with policy ideas or a strong campaign message,\u201d and although \u201cthe 2024 election is a rematch\u201d between Biden and his quadruply indicted predecessor, Biden\u2019s victory in battleground states is anything but guaranteed, Penn said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Biden could \u201cstill move more to the center, hoover up swing voters who desperately want to reject Mr. Trump, strengthen his image as a leader by destroying Hamas, and rally the base at the end,\u201d he continued. \u201cBut that means first pushing back against the base rather than pandering to it, and remembering that when it comes to the math of elections, swing is king.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ca.news.yahoo.com\/longtime-clinton-adviser-sounds-alarm-073821529.html\">ca.news.yahoo<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A longtime adviser to former President Bill Clinton has spelled out what he believes could cost President Joe Biden victory in the 2024 election.
