However, Graham&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/politics-news\/sen-lindsey-graham-says-israel-whatever-comparing-war-gaza-hiroshima-n-rcna151828\">argued<\/a>&nbsp;in an interview with NBC News on Sunday that Hamas is to blame for the bulk of civilian casualties, and urged Israel to continue doing&nbsp;\u201cwhatever you have to do to survive as a Jewish state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWhen we were faced with destruction as a nation after Pearl Harbor, fighting the Germans and the Japanese, we decided to end the war by bombing Hiroshima, Nagasaki, with nuclear weapons,\u201d&nbsp;Graham stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The White House recently suspended the supply of some of the larger-payload bombs that Israel could use in its new offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, outraging West Jerusalem\u2019s staunch supporters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cGive Israel the bombs they need to end the war they can\u2019t afford to lose, and work with them to minimize casualties,\u201d&nbsp;Graham said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The senator&nbsp;made a similar somparison&nbsp;during a subcommittee hearing earlier in the week, referring to Israel\u2019s war with Hamas as&nbsp;\u201cHiroshima and Nagasaki on steroids.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Washington has acknowledged its&nbsp;\u201creasonable\u201d&nbsp;concerns that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) may have violated international humanitarian law while using American weapons, but a new US State Department report failed to pin-point any specific violations. Secretary of State Antony Blinken admitted on Sunday that Israel has failed to show any&nbsp;\u201ccredible plan\u201d&nbsp;to get civilians out of harm\u2019s way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">President Joe Biden vowed not to support a&nbsp;\u201cmajor\u201d&nbsp;military operation in Rafah with US weapons, but indicated that Israel\u2019s&nbsp;\u201climited\u201d&nbsp;invasion has yet to cross Washington\u2019s red line.
