Gen. Pat Ryder said that the US is considering sending more US advisors to Ukraine in non-combat roles. Anonymous sources told US media the troops will be used to support logistics, maintenance and aid oversight.<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Troops from the US and other NATO countries will be in Ukraine fighting Russian troops within a year, security and international relations expert Mark Sleboda predicted on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/v4qxmjw-house-passes-massive-war-spending-bill-us-pushes-to-seize-russian-assets.html\">Sputnik\u2019s The Critical Hour<\/a>&nbsp;on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>We&nbsp;<\/em>(The United States)<em>&nbsp;were at trainers and advisers and CIA and special forces [in Ukraine], and now already, we\u2019re at logistics and maintenance personnel. It\u2019s quite clear where this is going,<\/em>\u201d Sleboda began. \u201c<em>US troops and [troops] from several other NATO member states will most likely be on the ground in Ukraine fighting the Russians within a year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, the US House of Representatives passed a bill that includes&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/sputnikglobe.com\/20240420\/us-house-passes-6084-billion-ukraine-aid-bill-in-311-112-vote-sending-it-to-senate-1118033276.html\">$61 billion earmarked to support Ukraine<\/a>, however, Sleboda explains that it will not have a major effect on the battlefield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">One underreported aspect of the bill is that a large portion of it is going towards replenishing&nbsp;<a href=\"#:~:text=Jackpot for Arms Contractors, Pain for Ukraine: Who Gets What From Congress' $61 Bln Bag of Goodies?\">US weapon stockpiles<\/a>&nbsp;and not weapons that will end up on the battlefield in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The Patriot surface-to-air missile system is considered the most advanced anti-aircraft system in Ukraine\u2019s arsenal. However, the first confirmed Russian destruction of a Patriot system occurred back in May 2023. Since then, several more have been taken out, including two last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The reports of an increased US presence in Ukraine were presented as<em>&nbsp;\u201cthey\u2019re going to be working out of the&nbsp;<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/sputnikglobe.com\/20240420\/us-mulls-posting-more-military-advisers-to-kiev-embassy---pentagon-1118035051.html\"><em>US embassy,<\/em><\/a>\u201d in Kiev, Sleboda said, but that assertion is far from reality, he argued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cI\u2019m not quite sure how big the US embassy is in Kiev, but I doubt it\u2019s enough to set up a maintenance workshop for, I don\u2019t know, Abrams tanks or something like that,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Sleboda jokes.&nbsp;<em>\u201cSo it almost certainly means that these US troops will be out and about in Ukraine, probably not too far from the front line. And you can certainly see the slippery slide.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">While the aid shows that, despite some hype in the media, the US is not<em>&nbsp;\u201cgiving up on Ukraine,\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>Sleboda notes that it doesn\u2019t change the calculus for the Russian government, who expected the aid to pass last year after US President Joe Biden requested it in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>You already have Ukrainian military commanders speaking anonymously, of course, to the Financial Times, saying that this isn&#8217;t actually going to change much,\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;Sleboda recounted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The most the aid will do, Sleboda reiterated, is \u201c<em>protract the fighting and to make Ukraine\u2019s agony that much longer and more drawn out.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sputnikglobe.com\/20240423\/us-goes-slippery-slide-with-sending-its-military-personnel-to-ukraine-1118067163.html\">Sputnikglobe<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday, Pentagon spokesman Maj.
