{"id":25842,"date":"2024-04-09T04:09:56","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T09:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=25842"},"modified":"2024-04-09T04:10:01","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T09:10:01","slug":"fake-botox-injections-may-be-behind-illinois-hospitalizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=25842","title":{"rendered":"Fake Botox injections may be behind Illinois hospitalizations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dph.illinois.gov\/resource-center\/news\/2024\/april\/2024-04-08---idph-alerts-healthcare-providers-to-cluster-of-illn.html\">Fake Botox injections\u2002<\/a>may have led to the hospitalizations of two people in Illinois, the state&#8217;s Public Health Department said Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">&#8220;Illinois residents should exercise caution when considering cosmetic treatment,&#8221; Dr. Sameer Vohra, the state&#8217;s public health director, said in a media statement. &#8220;Receiving these treatments in unlicensed, unapproved settings can put you or your loved ones at serious risk for health problems.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Warnings nationwide about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/health\/health-news\/warnings-grow-risky-iv-drips-injections-unregulated-med-spas-rcna131495\">medical procedures at unregulated med spas<\/a>&nbsp;are growing. The Illinois patients received injections from a nurse &#8220;who was performing work outside her authority,&#8221; according to the Public Health Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Clostridium botulinum&nbsp;is a nerve toxin that relaxes facial muscles that would otherwise cause wrinkles.
