{"id":25610,"date":"2024-04-02T22:18:30","date_gmt":"2024-04-03T03:18:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=25610"},"modified":"2024-04-02T22:18:38","modified_gmt":"2024-04-03T03:18:38","slug":"boebert-undergoes-emergency-surgery-for-blood-clot-in-leg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=25610","title":{"rendered":"Boebert undergoes emergency surgery for blood clot in leg"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Rep.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/people\/lauren-boebert\/\"><u>Lauren Boebert\u2002<\/u><\/a>(R-Colo.) was admitted to a Colorado hospital Monday to undergo emergency surgery for a blood clot in her leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Boebert was experiencing \u201csevere swelling in her upper left leg\u201d and went to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI want to thank Dr. Rebecca Bade and the entire team at UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies for their great care and providing helpful insight on my recent diagnosis,\u201d Boebert said in a statement. \u201cI\u2019m looking forwarding to making a full recovery and getting back to Congress to continue fighting for Colorado.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAfter undergoing a CT Scan, doctors found an acute blood clot and diagnosed her with May-Thurner syndrome, which is a rare condition that disrupts blood flow,\u201d her campaign confirmed to The Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Boebert\u2019s doctors recommended surgery to remove the clot and insert a stent that will address her symptoms, which was \u201csuccessfully completed\u201d Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The campaign\u2019s statement noted that women between the ages of 20 and 45 who have given birth are more likely to develop May-Thurner Syndrome. The exact cause is unknown, the statement said, but dehydration, travel and extended periods of sitting have been identified as factors that cause symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Bade said in the statement provided by Boebert\u2019s campaign that patients who undergo this surgery are \u201cable to live and work just as they have in the past after a brief recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Boebert has represented Colorado\u2019s third Congressional district since 2021.
