{"id":24479,"date":"2024-03-05T02:52:05","date_gmt":"2024-03-05T08:52:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=24479"},"modified":"2024-03-05T02:52:10","modified_gmt":"2024-03-05T08:52:10","slug":"california-sees-nearly-11-feet-of-snow-with-another-foot-or-so-expected","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ustower.net\/?p=24479","title":{"rendered":"California sees nearly 11 feet of snow, with another foot or so expected"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">California\u2019s ski resorts were hit by a massive blizzard this weekend, with some mountain towns seeing more than 10 feet of snow, according to the total snowfall data released Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Sugar Bowl measured 126 inches of snow,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSSacramento\/status\/1764720113297797219?s=20\"><u>topping the list<\/u><\/a>, followed by Soda Springs CalTrans\u2019s 116 inches of snow and Kingvale CalTrans\u2019s 106 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Other spots that saw between 5 and 8 feet of snow include Palisades Tahoe\u2019s 93 inches, Dodge Ridge\u2019s 89 inches, Sierra Snow Lab\u2019s 75.2 inches, Boreal\u2019s 74 inches and Eagles Lakes CalTrans\u2019s 66 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ski resorts had to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sugarbowlresort\/status\/1764698814760276353?s=20\"><u>shut down lifts Monday morning<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;and warned guests to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sugarbowlresort\/status\/1764317616003571915?s=20\"><u>expect further delays\u2002<\/u><\/a>as they continued digging themselves out of the snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">As the winter weather began to ease, forecasters warned of another storm that will bring heavy snow to northern California and southern Oregon as it moves southward Tuesday and Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Winter weather warnings are in effect, and the National Weather Service (NWS) predicts about 1 to 2 feet of additional snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">While the second storm will not be as powerful as the one this past weekend, it will make recovery from the blizzard even more difficult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWhile these totals will be much less than the previous more long lasting storm, travel will remain difficult and the additional heavy snows will exacerbate recovery from the first storm,\u201d the NWS said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe good news for this area of the country is that after the next round of heavy snows, more tranquil weather is expected for the remainder of the week,\u201d the NWS continued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/energy-environment\/4508047-california-sees-nearly-11-feet-of-snow-with-another-foot-or-so-expected\/\">Thehill<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>California\u2019s ski resorts were hit by a massive blizzard this weekend, with some mountain towns seeing more than 10 feet of snow, according to the total snowfall data released Monday.
